The question wasn't so much whether or not the Conservatives could stick to their deficit reduction plan, it was a matter of when they would fall so far off track that creative accounting would not be able to cover it up.
They have decided to go for the band-aid strategy. "Forget what we told you before the election. Europe screwed us. We're only human. Don't worry. Canada will get more of the short end of the stick than most countries."
